NeT-ADDeD Project

The objectives of NeT-ADDeD “New Technologies to Avoid Digital Division in e-Divided areas” two-year European Commission (EC) programme are to develop and validate technical features improving performance of deployment and operation of hybrid satellite-wireless technologies, in coherence with the growing demand of broadband communications in the INCO countries, as well as with their evolution in Europe.
Led by EADS Astrium, this Specific Targeted Research Project has been selected for co-funding by the European Commission in the 3rd Call for proposals of the Aeronautics and Space priority of the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6).
The NeT-ADDeD project positions Astrium and its 12 partners as active players in bridging the Digital Divide in INCO (International Cooperation) countries with a particular focus on the needs of African countries.
The NeT-ADDeD consortium will deploy and operate over a period of two years a set of validation sites in representative INCO countries of North and Central Africa (Morocco, Burkina Faso, Benin), as well as in Cambodia, Turkey and Europe. Representative user communities will cover the domains of Healthcare, Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Corporate and Residential services.
